Co Hai Thuc Duong
A Digital Transformation
Taking a local shop online
Co Hai Thuc Duong, a local Vietnamese business, was falling behind as customer demand grew and online shopping took off. In just 3 months, I worked with the business owner to bring the shop online and equip them with important tools for the new landscape. The results were nothing short of remarkable
- A 30% efficiency boost was achieved through the implementation of a Golang/Javascript data-driven automation pipeline
- Within just 2 months of launching a React/Golang/SQL e-commerce site on Azure, the business saw a 20% revenue increase by tapping into a wider customer base
- Due to my rapid tech support, smooth operations were maintained and all issues were resolved in under 30 minutes
Noche de Industria
SHPE USF Career Fair Landing Experience
A project to better prepare students for SHPE career fair
As the External Director for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), I led a project to improve the "Noche de Industria" career fair experience. Recognizing that many students were unprepared and lacked information about participating companies, my team and I developed a modern and user-friendly website to address these issues and ensure attendees were well-informed and ready to engage. In this project we were able to:
- Create an intuitive and visually appealing website using React and Tailwind CSS, providing easy access to event details, company profiles, and job opportunities
- Enabled hundreds of students to come better prepared to the career fair, leading to more productive and meaningful interactions with potential employers
- Gathered and analyzed demographic and engagement data from over 400 SHPE members using JavaScript and Python (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib), providing companies with valuable insights to build stronger partnerships with the organization
SpeakFix
English Practice with AI
I built an AI chatbot to help my relatives speak English more fluently.
Learning a new language can be challenging, especially without a practice partner. People often resort
to boring
textbooks or expensive apps and tutors. Moreover, effective learning requires frequent practice at any
time that fits
one's busy work schedule, which real tutors can't always provide.
That's why I created SpeakFix, an AI-powered English chatbot that offers convenient, interactive, and
personalized
practice for my relatives. Ten of them have used it and seen significant improvements.
- The integration of Groq AI API, Llama 3, and Google Neural Voice enabled the chatbot to engage in natural and dynamic conversations with users
- Using advanced prompting techniques, I customized the chatbot to tailor the learning experience for each user's needs and conversation style. This resulted in a 30% average increase in conversational English fluency within just two months for 10 of my relatives
- The user interface, built using the Vue.js framework, was praised by non-technical users for its ease of use
Data Science Club
Delivering Impactful Workshops to Data Enthusiasts
I'm on a mission to continuously elevate workshops at Data Science Club
Crafting helpful and memorable workshops is a passion for my team and me as Workshop Tech Leads for the Data Science Club at the University of South Florida. We strive for continuous improvement and have achieved notable outcomes this year.
- We conducted fun and engaging workshops on Python, statistics, and data visualization for over 100 club members (~60 attendees per event)
- To broaden our reach and deepen our impact, we collaborated with engineering clubs and industry professionals through events like a panel with Bank of America to provide students with insights into data science careers.
- We cultivated a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere within the club, encouraging members to explore data science and develop their problem-solving skills
My Toolkit
Send Message
As an engineer, I love creating things that make a difference in my community. I got started in middle school with projects like automating my room lights and building a timelapse camera for mom's garden. I also helped fix laptops for my neighbors for a while.
This grew into building websites to solve real-world problems for people around me. I’m a quick learner and always eager to improve my skills and come up with new solutions.
When I’m not coding, I enjoy cooking, playing guitar and making my own music.
